Mr Johnstone is operating at Wakefield Hospital and has special interests in sports orthopaedics, spine surgery and hip and knee joint replacement and shoulder surgery. 

Specialist Training

Ryan is a graduate of Auckland University and started his advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2006. He gained his fellowship in 2009 and then sub-specialised in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine initially in Auckland for six months completing the Adidas Sports Fellowship (2010) and then a further six months in Western Australia completing the Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship (2010). He then travelled to London Ontario, Canada where he completed a further year of sub-specialty training in Spinal Surgery (2012).

Ryan is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, and a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.  He has been an Orthopaedic Consultant at Hutt Hospital since July 2012.
