Employee Referral Programme

Purpose

At Evolution Healthcare our people know our Group best – our culture, our values and our purpose. We want to reward our kaimahi staff for referring people who would be an outstanding addition to our Group.

When a kaimahi/staff member refers a candidate and they are successfully appointed into a permanent full-time or part-time role, the kaimahi/staff member can receive a referral bonus!

Who can be referred

Referrals must meet the following cirteria for their referees to be eligible to receive the referral payment:

  • have not been previously employed by Evolution in the same or substantially similar position or employment status
  • are not commencing as a casual employee
  • are not an internal transfer or moving from a casual or fixed term to a permanent position
  • have not been referred previously by someone else for the same or substantially similar position
  • have not previously applied for a position at Evolution.

Candidates must demonstrate they have:

  • the required qualifications
  • a good employment record
  • meet all of the pre-employment checks.

Evolution will determine eligibility after the candidate applies, the application or CV has been received, and a recruitment process is followed.

How do I refer someone?

The process of referring a candidate is simple.  Send an email to the hiring manager with the potential candidate’s information. An employee may refer someone only one time.

To ensure the employee meets their obligations under the Privacy Act, they need to ensure that they have the referring candidate’s approval for their information to be forwarded to us for review and consideration.

Scope

Employees are eligible to make an employee referral if they are not involved in the hiring process for the referred candidate.

We would not expect Managers, Team Leaders, and Human Resources staff members to be eligible for a referral payment.  However, consideration for a fee will be made under exceptional circumstances.

Receiving referral payments

The referral reward will be made as a taxable, additional payment and included in the employee’s regular pay.  The hiring manager should complete the Employee Referral Form to process the reward. An employee is eligible to receive the reward:

  • if they submitted a referral before the time the candidate applies for the role
  • when the person referred is hired into either a permanent position or a fixed-term contract over 12 months
  • The referral payment will be paid in two instalments:

First instalment
50% of the referral fee paid immediately following commencement of the referred employee.

Second instalment
50% of the referral fee paid at one year from commencement of employment, providing the employee and the referrer still work for Evolution Healthcare.

  • Should, the referred employee, resign or have their employment terminated within the first 12 months of work, the remainder of the referral fee is not payable
  • The referring employee must still be employed by Evolution at the time of payment.

Eligibility of Referral Programme

Not all positions are eligible for the Employee Referral Programme reward, e.g., for a fixed term of fewer than six months or casual employment. However, we encourage our employees to refer them because we consider that employee referrals are the most successful ways to attract talented people.

Requirements

Referral to hard to fill positions as determined by Evolution Heathcare:

  • If an employee refers a person who is then hired and remains in the job for at least 12 months, they may receive a reward of up to $5000 gross for full-time roles and $2,500 gross for part-time positions of 20 hours or less at the time of commencing employment.

Referral to all other positions:

  • If an employee refers a person who is then hired and remains in the job for at least 12 months, they may receive a reward of up to $2000 gross for full-time roles and $1000 gross for part-time positions of 20 hours or less at the time of commencing employment.

A referral cannot result from:

  • an unsolicited CV has been sent to the referring employee, who then forwards it to Evolution
  • If there is a recruitment agency fee involved
  • Referrals of individuals in a contractor or fixed term position. If the contractor is offered and accepts permanent employment within the first 12 months of the referred employee’s work with Evolution, then the referral award is payable
  • Referrals of the same applicant by more than one individual will result in the referral award being paid only to the first referral that the hiring manager has documented.

Hard to fill positions vary across our locations. Hard to fill positions are determined at the time of recruitment and employees who are successful with a referral of a friend, family or whānau will be advised.
