We would like to do a big shout out to all the Occupational Therapists (OTs) at ABI on World Occupational Therapy Day. The theme for this year is “Occupational Therapy for All”. The theme reflects the important role of the profession to facilitate the ability of individuals, communities and populations to participate in the activities that they want, need or are expected to do in their daily lives. At ABI we have OTs who are passionate about facilitating activity and participation of people with neurological injuries across intensive inpatient rehabilitation, residential disability services, and a range of community based services.
ABI has OTs who specialise in working with tamariki and are skilled in supporting development, play, learning, and life transitions. Our OTs specialise in assessing the complex needs of kiritaki within their meaningful environments and undertaking the activities of their choosing to establish aids, equipment and technology that support their independence. OT’s will work with kiritaki and whānau to help them achieve their goals, return to important life roles, and support them back to work. We have two OT’s who have Doctorates and are passionate leaders in Occupational Therapy.
A special mention to Jonathan Armstrong. Jonathan is an OT, a Dr OT and our Allied Health Director across ABI and Evolve. And he also won the NZOT/WNA (Occupational Therapy Association) “Excellence in Occupational Leadership” Award earlier this year!
