Wakefield Hospital extends its world-class healthcare digital services with the most advanced digital augmented reality microscope equipment.
Designed for the most delicate surgeries, the Leica ARveo digital augmented reality microscope supports Wakefield Hospital’s leading Neurosurgeons, ENT specialists, plastic surgery, and New Zealand’s only Gender Affirming Specialist Dr Rita Yang.
Evolution Healthcare is the first private healthcare provider to invest in the Leica ARveo in New Zealand.
“Evolution Healthcare prides itself on investing in the most advanced and sophisticated medical technology to support our specialists in the provision of superior patient care and outcomes,” says Sue Channon, Chief Executive Officer, Evolution Healthcare.
The Leica ARveo is the most sophisticated and advanced microscope to date and is designed for the most complex surgical interventions. With impressive visualisation and integrated fluorescence technology, the ARveo empowers specialists in their decision-making, supporting optimal patient outcomes.
“Thanks to the advanced 4k technology our theatre staff are empowered by seeing what our specialists see in 3D during the operation and in turn are able to better assist,” says Ms Channon.
Neurosurgeon Kelvin Woon said “A much needed upgrade and what an excellent microscope. Magnification and clarity is amazing. It certainly gives me the confidence to be able to do more microsurgical cases!”.
Along with the investment in new technology, Evolution Healthcare has significantly invested in the redevelopment of Wakefield Hospital with a $130-million-dollar rebuild. Wakefield Hospital will soon open Stage One of its new development in early June 2021, with the commencement of Stage Two in the second half of 2021. Throughout Wakefield’s redevelopment, the hospital services remain in full capacity to meet the demand of private patient healthcare.
