A significant milestone for the future of orthopaedic care in Waikato.
Recently we gathered to officially break ground on the new $75 million Anglesea Hospital Specialist Orthopaedic Hospital, an exciting extension of Anglesea Hospital that will expand access to specialist surgical and inpatient care for our community.
Led by Neville Strick (Orthopaedic surgeon/Anglesea Board member), Jeff Arthur (General Manager Property & Projects, Evolution Healthcare) and Nicky van Praagh (General Manager, Anglesea Hospital), the new hospital will initially include four operating theatres, with capacity to expand to six, alongside 21 private inpatient rooms with ensuites and a four-bed High Dependency Unit. An additional shell level will also provide the ability to add further beds in the future.
Construction begins in August 2026, this ceremony was an opportunity to acknowledge the many people who will help bring this important development to life, and the patients, whānau and wider community who will benefit from it.
